Renee and Dave Paterson offer you the opportunity to experience recreational geology at its best; the chance to collect your own minerals and gemstones where they occur in nature, at two fee-paid sites.
THE BERYL PIT
This famous locality hosts up to 50 minerals, including (rarely) aquamarine beryl, in a very complex geological body called a pegmatite. This is a self-guided excursion. Register and pay the fee at Kauffeldt’s General Store in Quadeville (3469 Quadeville Road), from 8:30 am Monday through Saturday; 10:00 am Sunday. Open seasonally from “snow’s gone” until the end of October. A display board in the quarry contains examples of the more common varieties to help you identify your finds.
THE ROSE QUARTZ QUARRY
Includes a talk about the history, geology, and mineralogy of the site. Rose Quartz is available for sale.
Visits to the Rose Quartz quarry are BY PRIOR RESERVATION – IN ADVANCE – ONLY.
We maintain a large inventory of saleable, quality mineral crystal specimens, from many localities, at our home in Combermere. They may be viewed – BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
